Open a Word Document in Lectora

I am trying to place a word document into my Lectora Course. I have added an image with the action on Mouse click, go to web address, Document.doc, open in new window. This works well with pdf files, but not with Microsoft Word documents. My document tries to open, but closes down right away. I am using Version V.9a.
