One course for two audiences

We built one course with a similar challenge that may serve as a solution. In our case, we had two groups of users: 1) taking training offline by CD, and 2) taking training online. However, both audiences had to take the test online. So, we built one course with the combined training and test and put it online. At the beginning, we set up a page with an entry field programmed to accept pre-determined training completion codes, which were published on the CDs. When a user logged in that had completed that training, they simply entered their code and it bypassed the training portion and "fast-forwarded" them to the test. For users that had not completed the offline training, they proceeded from the beginning into the online training, and when completed, then to the test.Hope this helps.
