LMS communication issue

we have this issue here and it came down to an as yet unknown issue in our onfrastructure.If we type the url using https://, then we get this issue on some of our machinesIf we type http://, once it gets to the server, it adds the "s" back in and then does communicate with the LMS.Strange but true!!
