launching a doc or html

I'm trying to launch pdf's and html pages using a hyperlink , and the option "go to web address", in a "new window". When I that Lectora pops up my pdf and/or html page in a seperate window but, it also blanks out the parent window and inserts "[object]"... as the contents of the parent window.
