Key Strokes not registering?

I have built left and right key strokes into my course - the problem is on the first page the right key stroke (to go to the next page) does not register and then whenever there is a flash animation the key strokes back and forward will not register. I think it is something to do with the html not focusing on the course thus not recognising the key presses - does anyone know how to get around this?
