How to Show/Hide Objects Across Pages?

I am doing a project in which I want to start the lesson with several items on the page invisible, and then show them based on students' responses. The project spans a few dozen pages per chapter and I have put the objects at the chapter level. I can easily show the objects when each page loads using actions (either Show or Toggle Visibility State) with conditionals attached.The problem is that I would like objects to stay shown instead of being hidden again when each page loads. As it is, I am going to have to run up to thirty conditional actions on each page load, and I'm concerned about the page load time. Does anyone know how to fix -- er, work around -- this?
