Help! Properties dialog box not popping up

Greetings! I have never seen this issue and can't seem to find resolution. Last night when I booted up my laptop at home and tried to work on my Lectora X module I'm building, I was unable to bring up the properties box on any page or item in my title in edit mode. I used the double click, as well as right click on open properties. I was also not able to add a button, which normally has the properties box pop up automatically. I thought it might be related to the fact that before I left, my presentation director was running extended display, meaning I could have one thing on my laptop screen and something different on my external monitor. However, I have shut down and restarted my computer since disabling that functionality and my properties box still won't work. I'm desperate for a solution due to an already-tight deadline on a high-profile project. I am on a Windows XP platform with a computer that is 3 days from the lease expiring.
