Formating Text in a Change Content Action
October 20, 2008 12:00 AM
To add to Laura's solution, I often set my initial text to say, "Loading..." or "Please wait", depending on how the text box is used. It's probably unneeded paranoia, but you never know when you have such horrible lag that the action to change the contents is too slow, leaving your initial text there. There has been an instance where I performed a lot of math work, and I had to delay the Change Contents action by 0.7 seconds. So, I invented a "Calculating scores" text box that lets the user know that the system is not hung up. Every other time that I employed this trick, I never needed it. The screen shows, and the contents change instantaneously, so the user is none the wiser. Still, I don't want the user to see my idle ramblings of, "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy." Kevin
