drag drop - how to know 'how many items are dragged and dropped?'

So I'm wondering on what action are you incrementing the value of that variable? Other question types have the "on change" tab for doing an action, the D&D does not have that option. Using mouse over on the graphic drop area really wont work as they can drag the mouse over without an object as well. I've done this type of evaluation using a Flash interaction, but not just Lectora.
