Developement for ipad and tablet

Hi,
I have to develop a course in ipad and tablet, can some one guide me how to start? or if there is any difference between to develop for nomral courses and ipad/tablet. Also what are the restrictions, advantage/disadvantage compare to implement ipad feature funtionlaity. Your reply wud be appreciated.
