Custom Test Results always shows unanswered questions – even when box unchecked.

Summary:

I have a test with 8 sections. Using random variables, some sections are skipped. The questions in the skipped sections continue to show up in the Custom Test Results at the end of the test as Unanswered Questions. I have unchecked the Show Unanswered Questions checkbox on the Test Results Content tab. Is this a bug in Lectora?

Details:

Here is the reason for the way the test is set up. The first two sections of the test are vocabulary sections – one with easy questions and one with hard questions. These pull a random set number of questions from each section’s question bank. The next 6 sections are each a “Practice Passage” where the student clicks on a button to open up a reading passage in a separate pop-up and answers 4 questions about it. I have three easy and three hard passages – of which I only want them to complete two of each. I use a random variable for their initial passage, track which one they have completed, and then send them to one of the other two. When I process the test, it shows all of the questions in the skipped sections as (not answered). I re-created it in a second course with the same results. Has anyone else seen this?

If you've unchecked the "Show Unanswered Questions" it should resolve the issue. I've found that sometimes Lectora can be tempermental about updating the custom test results file. I would suggest removing it, saving, closing, opening, adding it again and unchecking the box, save, close, open and then publish to HTML or SCORM, save, close and reopen to see if the issue still persists. Sometimes it doesn't save and show up right away. It just depends on if the system catches the file and recognizes changes were made.

Thank you for your response. I tried your suggested procedure several times, but it still shows all unanswered questions. (I am publishing to an executable by the way if that matters.) When I allow skipped questions, and then skip them on purpose, it shows these questions on the feedback as well. I even tried making another test from scratch with the same setup and it still did not work. Is there any way to manually go in and flip this switch in the code, or see what it is set to?

I have uploaded a crude example of what I mean. There are two sections in this test, each randomly choosing one question. Even though section 2 gets skipped, it still shows the unanswered questions from it in the Test Results.

Thanks for your help Jennifer, I talked to Support and it is a bug that has been logged.
