CourseMill report wildcards

Is there a way to use wildcards in a CourseMill report? For example if I wanted to run a completions report on a particular course, but I only wanted to show Student IDs that started with "N". I've tried common wildcards I could think of, but nothing worked.

According to our wizards behind the curtain, this can only be done with custom sql.
