First off, let me say that the difference in display time is minimal if you are using high-speed connections.HTML pages are independent of each other so they have to get the data from somewhere. The drop-down version of the TOC clearly does that. Create one page with an additional drop-down TOC. Click the Preview in Browser button. When the HTML page is displayed, Select Source from the View menu. You will be able to see what is generated for that type of TOC. I had one course with 10 chapters and 25 pages each and this type of TOC added about 20K to the size of EACH page. I published with and without the TOC and looked at the page size in the Windows folder. Now as to the other two types of TOCs it is not so clear. They do NOT increase the size of the pages directly. Apparently they generate some JavaScript code that is loaded - hopefully as needed but not sure. Can anyone out there tell us whether the JavaScript code for the TOCs is loaded regardless of whether or not the learner clicks the button??cheers, benEdited By: bpitman on 2006-5-9 6:18:58
