Checkbox in SCORM don't retain value

I am in a good self - help - state - of - mind! Found, one answer!
I added an action to the checkbox changing the variable 'on select -> modify variable -> to 1' However, I used the same variable as the checkbox. The value was no longer 'on' for the checkbox but '1' after selection. So it didn't display as checked.
Well, maybe someone can benifit from this post and doesn't make the same mistake... or am I just a bit off?
