Avatar Experience. Thoughts, Attitudes?

Hello.Like everything else in life, we must try to achieve a level of balance in what we do. eLearning is no different. And as we seek for the transfer of knowledge, where users can translate what is learned to the actual doing, we empower them to become stronger in their work and abilities.Research shows that using text and pictures can increase the transfer of knowledge of the required information, but too much can actually diminish the effectiveness of the material. The use of avatars can best be used in simulations and scenarios that mimic the real-world examples that users will meet within their work. If we can use these avatars in say, providing practice in applying concepts or responses that will not affect the relations with customers or employees then we will have improved performance.I am involved in developing a course that looks at the Export Control regulation and how it affects universities and their researchers to know if their research falls within the accepted parameters of the regulation without running afoul of the law. Using a decision tree with avatars acting out a scenario, I hope to break down this highly complex material in a way that persons can make correct and safe decisions. So we can use avatars in learning that conveys involvement and provide practical meaning to users.Regards,
