Avatar Experience. Thoughts, Attitudes?

Well we have been using them a lot lately at the request of our clients. We use them typically in a scenario based course to provide information and guidance to the learner throughout the scenario. For example, as part of your job you have to ask people different questions to get information, we use avatars to simulate this. You can see a simple example on our website: i3Logic (Avatar under the quicklinks section on the left side)We also use them in interactions with video. One particular client has a lot of interviews with specific experts in the field, and instead of having an off screen voice in the video ask the questions we are having an avatar ask these questions and interact with the video. We also record these interviews so the expert interacts back with the avatar. Its pretty cool.As Ben mentioned as well, we also use them as eye-candy sometimes if it fits within the course. Most of the time though, they are integrated within the course to support the learning objectives of higher order learning.
