Windows Error Message - persistent data

that's sounds like a reasonable explanation to me since the NULL data could throw the error when you ask for its Length in the js function. i got annoyed and swithed off the alert function but i wonder if this error comes up only when the suspenddata has not been filled with data - ie, a retuirning student might not trigger same error. need to spend time on this. perhaps a workaround is to prep the suspenddata at the beginning of the course with "if it contains nothing then stick variable X into it." the 4096 length is not relevant if i understand yr point since the initial value of the database field will still be null.
