I've created subtitles for a video by:
1) adding cue points to the video in Adobe Flash Video Encoder
2) creating multiple text blocks containing the required text sections, unchecked 'initially visible'*
3) setting up events for each cue point to run an action group which goes (for e.g.):
a) hide text 1
b) show text 2
Now I guess that's pretty clunky to start with because I don't know how to 'put' content into one text block and change it accordingly (*hence showing and hiding lots of individual blocks!) but that's not my real concern, which is that this method isn't any good if the user rewinds the video, or moves the playhead in any way.
If they do that, the visible 'subtitles' remain the same until another cue point is reached, obviously not reflecting the video until that point.
Is there a better solution for subtitling? For the record I'm not using the classic 'video overlay' style subtitles, it's simply a transcript of the spoken words displayed beside the video as they're said.
Many thanks!
