Use of Cut, Copy and Paste

I can't see a sensible use for this facility. I tried it out and in my opinion it should come with a warning message that if you cut data, it disappears and you can't get it back.
The answer from Trivantis Suppot was that this functionality is for use in a Quiz/Survey for moving, copying questions independently of the dragging option.
They tell me that they have relayed on the fact that this could be very confusing for users (you're telling me!) but that there is no current proposed change.
