Transparent Button NOT transparent over GIF file in Published View

I am updating a Lectora title that a former colleague created. In it's previous version it worked properly, but now the transparent buton that was placed over a gif animation to launch a video an insure that the video was viewed before being able to proceed, is no longer transparent when published. Initially my only edits to this module were to replace the video (and I simply inserted new swf video with the exact same name, so as to not have to reattach.)

Since the transparency was not working, I double checked that 'make transparent' was checked and tried the transparent button over other items like text boxes, etc. and it behaves the same---not transparent when viewed in publish mode. I made a new transparent button and made it launch the video---it too is not transparent when in published mode.

I have made a couple of lectora modules--but it's been several months since my last endeavor; what am I doing wrong? :confused:
