Switch off sound in videos selectively

Dear all,

I have video recordings with sound. I recorded another voice over audio file for the video, which I wanted to add to the scenario. I'm not seeing an option to switch off sound on the video, without also muting the new audio file.. Am I just blind?

Thanks & Cheers,

Nils

Solution

Carl is spot on with that, the way to do it is to change out the audio track in the video to the new voice over you have.

ELB will chime in, but I'm not aware of any such feature.

However, as a video guy, I would remove the audio from the video entirely--make it completely silent, and upload the new version. Then you can play a separate audio file as your voice-over, and (for instance) let the student select a language. You might lose a tiny amount of sync, but if you edit the audio carefully that won't matter.

In any reasonable video editor, making a silent version is zero effort. In, say, Adobe Premiere or Camtasia, you would literally click on the audio track(s) and hit "Delete", then publish the video. You could then go back to the original file, and publish as audio only to make an audio file of the original VO track.

Thanks, I already thought about this, but I thought that maybe there'd be an option to just within cenarioVR silence the audio track, since there's is the option to add a separate audio track. But it does not give an advantage that you don't have now. Except saving me the time to edit the videos ;-)
