spell a word

I'm looking for a way to simulate the narrator spelling out a word. For example if the narator says "Stop, S T O P, stop" I want the letters S T O P to appear individually as the narrator is spelling it. I know I can put triggers in the audio file but was wondering is someone has a better way.
