I can't answer the question about 2008, but I am currently working with Tech Support regarding 2007. I went back and uninstalled 2007 and reinstalled it without any of the service packs. The problem did not occur. I started adding the service packs back in one at a time and found that the anomaly was introduced in SP3. Tech Support has been notified has turned it over to the developers for resolution.
