Show score as X of Y

A client has asked that we present the score of a Test to the learner as "Your score is X of Y" rather than "Your score is X%".

I am not using the the Test Results popup to show the score - I am pulling in the score variable on a seperate page.

I can't see a way to convert the percentage score to X of Y. Has anyone else managed to do this?
