Server-based media path - and adding media
September 8, 2010 12:00 AM
A few coworkers have discussed compiling/sharing a single Lectora media library - if viable - to leverage a broader swath of media assets. So we might modify the default media path to point to a shared server.
However, before going through all that:
1) For those already sharing a server-based media library, is that approach more apt to cause Lectora lag/latency issues...that are known to cause instability/corruption issues? Are there known caveats weighing against such an approach that we should first consider?
2) In a similar vein, when we launch the Media Library Organizer, the "Add Media" button is disabled/shaded out. (Apparently intended for Media-Library expansion.) So to utilize the suite's apparent intent, how does one enable the Add-Media feature in the Media Library Organizer (other than doing a complete end run around the suite and manually moving files/folders to a new default path via explorer)?
(We're running the professional suite [vers. 10.2 - build 6968])
Thanks in advance.
