Scorm communication with Saba - Error.
March 14, 2005 12:00 AM
Hi,We are using Saba LMS 3.5 and Saba Publisher (Lectora versioned product from Saba). We have users who took courses and everything works fine but came up with 2 cases where weird thing is happening. In the course when the user is done with the Quiz/Test a jsp page is called which sends an email to the administrator that a user completed the course with score in the body text.Recenlty we got a email that a particular person completed the course. But when we look into our Saba LMS no record of score or time spent was recorded. We have time spent details of earlier days but not on the day when the test was taken. So the communication between the Saba and Course Content is broken. ??? How could that happen ???Is there any time limit for communication to happen between Saba and Course launched? We want to get rid of POST method which is calling a jsp page (for sending emails) on completing the quiz/test but after looking into this anomaly we are not sure whether it's good to remove POST method or not. A "C" or "F" value is passed based on score at the end of the Quiz and works fine when we did testing and wroking fine with other users but came up with 2 cases where it behaved abnormally.Did anyone had this kind of unusual behaviour ???

I looked at some of the other discussion thread related to similar problem and they increased the session idle time to 8hrs. I did the same and it worked out. Thanks Thomas.
HiI work with Saba 3.4 and I think you should look at your session time-out for your Saba solution. This could very well be the time limit that makes the "communication link" between the content and Saba to fail if the user has spent too much time in Saba. Perhaps Saba doesn't "monitor" activities in the Saba Player which could mean that the counter is not reset and thus a time-out can happen even though the learner actually is active?Cheers,Thomas P.
