ReviewLink Comment Character Limit- Considerations
January 18, 2019 12:00 AM
ReviewLink, the course review tool included with Inspire, has a 255 character limit per comment. What do you do to nudge reviewers to keep comments concise, and what to do if they just can't? Lawyers/para-legals acting as course SMEs tend to take the same approach to marking up learning as they would mark up a contract.. very granular detail with lots of word parsing. Thoughts?
Thanks

I've taken to include an extra screen at the beginning of each course I send out for review, titled "Providing Actionable Feedback" with some tips (see attached).
This was mostly in response to getting a bunch of unclear or too-short feedback (rather than too long), but you could adapt this to cover the issues you encounter most often. Perhaps one could be to direct SMEs to leave multiple comments (i.e. one comment per change) rather than one long one.

No problem - reviews are always something of a "dark art" when you have diverse reviewers involved.
It may also be worth looking at an alternative platform like ReviewMyElearning, which I've found to be much more user-friendly than ReviewLink.
