1 - No, it always exports the whole thing. But you can ask your translator to ignore everything except lines in English.

2 - Yes, you can. For each object that you want to be translated, leave the red line that says "do not edit" and the black page name text below it. For each object you want to exclude, remove both the red line and the black content. Only the objects listed in the RTF will be imported and updated in the title.

Also, here's a few tips for your translator.

1. As mentioned in the blog, only use WordPad for Windows to edit the texts. Do not use MS Word of any version, it will most likely make the RTF unimportable. Do not use WordPad for Mac, it is only similar to WP for Windows in name, nothing else, and it will make the RTF unimportable. I suggest you add this info in RED BOLD FONT in the email communication with them, because translators are less tech-savvy folk than you'd like them to be.

2. If your translator misses the RED BOLD TEXT and uses MS Word to edit the RTF, you will likely see all sorts of lost weird things from formatting issues to extra characters in text boxes to Lectora crashes on import. This is fixable. Just open the RTF in WordPad and re-save it. It'll strip all the extra info that MS Word adds and Lectora cannot parse.

3. Lectora uses exact same style in RTF as in your title. E.g. red text stays red and bold text stays bold. This is very convenient, because your translator can translate stuff and control formatting at the same time. For example, the text in English is "A quick risk manager jumps over a lazy customer representative for compliance reasons". Your translator should translate it as "Un gestionnaire des risques rapide saute par-dessus un représentant du client paresseux pour des raisons de conformité" so that you don't have to find and mark words in bold yourself. Saves a ton of time.

The other side of this is that if you have any text in Lectora in white (often - headings, texts on charts, etc), it will be white in the RTF. As in, white text on white page. As in, invisible to your translator. Who will most likely skip it and leave it untranslated. Unless you instruct them in advance.

The table of contents consists of chapter names and page names, which is clearly visible in your screenshot, where TOC items are in English because chapter and page names are in English.

Export the RTF, translate the chapter names and page names, import the RTF back and the TOC entries will be updated.
