Progressive disclosure

Timing text to audio is fairly complex in Lectora. Here are three possible options. Feel free to contact me directly if you are not sure how to perform these tasks. (dpelkins@alcorn-ward.com)

1. If you are using version 9 and above, you can use one of the Animated Characters that comes with the Flash Media Library. One of the options is to sync bullets with audio. (If you aren't familiar with the Flash Media Library, you can see some samples and download instructions at www.e-LearningUncovered.com/flash_library_flash_media_library.html.

2. You can add actions to each page (on click, show text box) to have each text box appear after a certain number of seconds. However, this is not recommended if you are publishing to HTML. Delays in network time will throw off your timing every time.

3. Add events to the audio files themselves. (If you have the Publishing Suite, you can add events using the Audio Editor. If you do not, you can download Windows Media Encoder (free) and use the Windows Media File Editor that comes with it to add Script Commands. Then in the audio properties, go to the Events tab and set up actions to show each of the text boxes when that point in the audio hits.
