Please Help! Send Form Entry data to google drive(docs) or Email
January 4, 2017 12:00 AM
I am building a course i would like to push out as a preview to another course. since it is free, i would like to have learners provide their names and email address in exchange for access to the course. I would like to pass on the user information to a google docs spreadsheet (as it is done with quiz results).
I have spent over a week trying to achieve this with the Test and Survey functionality in lectora but have failed.
Yesterday, i came across a form validation share by Wendy Miller (http://community.trivantis.com/shared-content/entry-field-validation-example/). It is the closest example to what i intend to achieve.
Please would anyone be kind enough to help me out?
I have created a google spreadsheet with a copy of Lectora Test/Survey submission - anonymous template (with anyone can edit permission) at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1w-wW0JXrl6FRCozy9UIuDoC76uLYDwWH8b1CG-NhGtA/edit?usp=sharing
I have also attached a copy of Wendy's template.
A million thanks!

Hi Bennie,
I took the field validation example I built a while back and modified it to do a Google Drive submission. I am attaching it here. I added a Form object and moved all of the entry fields into that. Then I added a Submit Form action to the Actions group that runs once the fields have been validated. It is working for me. However, since the example was set up to use duplicate fields for the feedback effect, it submits the data twice to the form. But if you're just trying to capture the name and email address, then having twice shouldn't really be a problem. If you want to modify this example to work with your own Google Doc sheet, you'll need to replace the URL in the Form Properties undefined Google Drive Form URL field.
Have a look at the example and see if it works for you. My spreadsheet is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AQy8r7gVdD8DPOgrekZGo-VpoJZEWEsrTDErudmZ8y8/edit#gid=0
If you're still having trouble getting your form to work, you're welcome to send it to me and I'll see if I can figure out why it's not working for you. wendy.miller@trivantis.com
Hello Wendy,
Thanks! this works exactly how i wanted, and i was able to get it to pass the information on to my own google docs spreadsheet. I really don't mind the duplicate submission as i can always hide duplicate columns.
But i run into a bit of challenge getting it to work properly when imported into my course.
I have sent you a more elaborate email on this.
Thanks!
@jvalley4735 Thanks!

Hi Bennie,
It seems that when you brought the form into your own title, some of the entry field variables and variables in some of the action conditions were lost. I think this may be because we need to intentionally use the same variable name for the duplicate entry fields. And when you copy and paste them from one title to another, Lectora tries to give them all unique variable names again. In any case, I think I've got all of them fixed now. I tested it with my own spreadsheet and it is working. (I saved your original URL and put it back in.)
Also, some of the objects were out of tabbing order, so I rearranged them a bit. I will send you back your course via email momentarily. I also added the action to go to the next page once all of the fields are valid, as you requested.
If you have any more trouble, please let me know.
Hi Wendy,
Thank you again! It works just fine now. I'm grateful.
