Passing or retriving value from javascrip

Is it possible to pass or retrive data from javascript variable in Lectora variable. For e.g i have requirement where i want the MM/DD/YYYY format for the CurrentDate variable date. I am storing date fromCurrentDate variable, in cdate variable then i have written javascript code to change the format of date. But i am not able to pass the date in cdate variable to variable in javascript code and vice versa not able to pass the date in javascript variable to variable in Lectora i.e. cdate. Any solution to this?
