Passing Command Line Variables

I realize this issue has been addressed previously, but in searching the forums, I found a few links to sample files that are broken, and obviously, not helpful. (2007-09-17_104540_PassedParms.zip)

First, if there are updated links to sample files showing me what I need, can someone post those please?

Here is what I am looking for: I would like to create an executable program that is capable of accepting a command line argument (user id variable), which then searches an sql database for the proper user information and retrieves it for use in the program.

At the end of the program, I would like to then save off quiz scores and related data to a second sql database.

I have some scripting ability, but would really appreciate sample code to minimize my head-scratching.
