Page-by-page control of student navigation

Another solution is to create a "lesson-level" home page (we rarely use full navigation menus). You can easily set up variables so that lesson buttons are not enabled until you finish a lesson (then the next lesson button is enabled). You can use automatic bookmarking to take the student back to where they left off, and settting the variable paramters to retain the value between sessions keeps the course's "status" current for that student.

Since we use a Student Progress page to track and limit students so they go through the content in order, we now have to add page-by-page variables and actions so users can't access a page through the Menu unless they have first accessed the page by going through the course. Has any one set up variables and actions for this? I'm trying to add new variables to the existing Chapter control that we've set up but it's not working quite the way we want. Thanks,
