Optimizing VR for Live / cardboard

I'm interested in any guidance on how to optimize a VR scenario for download / playback on cardboard. I know I know. The client is insisting, though. Currently I'm trying this on my iPhone and my scenario is still download, some 40 minutes later and at only 50%. Any guidance on:

  • Max scenario / immersion size? I fear I may have too much going on in terms of media (some 5 scenes, each 2 and a half minutes long.
  • Guidance to provide end users - a cheat sheet for how to get the content?
  • Guidance on optimizing video content (compression settings, etc.)?

THANKS

I have since re-exported my video files to H.264 Mobile / 1080p from Premiere and that helped with the install of the immersion on my iPhone. It was a 5 min download. However, the button from the first scene to the next does not seem to work - just dumps to a white screen and I have to kill the app. Seems to work fine and function as expected in the preview online.

Hello Steve, Thank You for your inquiry.

As per the additional details you provided via the support case, the iphone 6 would not be able to properly process the Cenario.

We recommend at a minimum the iphone 7. Your title was tested using an iphone8 and ran smoothly between scenes.

CenarioVR supports running in website format, however, the best viewing and functionality is available when using the CenarioVR mobile app. App is available in Apple’s App Store (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cenariovr/id1298645282) and Google Play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trivantis.iris&hl=en_US).

For users to best view the content via mobile, (assuming in private based on the content) Within CenarioVR users would need to be added, their accounts created, then have the Cenario assigned to those users.

We provide a guideline in regards to compression below,

We will also follow up to your support case as we work with you,

Thank You
