Opening course in Popup window

Hi All,

I have created a aicc complaint course. Is there any way to open Lectora course ina popup window(i.e in two windows one should be static and and in another pop up window course should launch).

Please suggest if any one have tried this.

Thanks.

That is correct -- the LMS will not track it. Since your LMS uses iFrames and that messes up the iPad, not sure what else you can do. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Hi Ben - in the above, are you referring to the LMS using an iframe messes up the iPad? Or are you saying that iPads don't support iframes well? I know this is an old post, so wondering if maybe this has changed (I think iframes were accepted into HTML 4/transitional and are supported in HTML5).

I know this can be a broad topic - but I think in SCORM 1.2 you can't really get away from the frameset, so iframes can possibly cause issues when frames collide. I've had some issues with using iframes in 2.0 windows where functionality I once was lost with a newer release of our mobile learning app / LMS. This seems to pertain specifically to Captivate CS6 HTML5 files, the support files of which contain at least references to iframes even if you publish the non-scalable version - so I am wondering if frames in general could have something to do with it regardless of whether it's embedded with an iframe or not.

Other than Captivate files not playing nice (unfortunately that's not a rare event) - I have seen no difference between launching a local URL using the actual file rather than iframe versus an iframe. I DO see a difference in the content if it's hosted on a web server. It appears to be something about how the files work in the offline web folder...

I just played with trying to work around the frames by changing the content of a course from SCORM/AICC to plain HTML then publishing that as SCORM. Then I changed the title of the titlemanager page to index, thinking I'd done something special. Not sure why my course actually worked on our mobile LMS, but it didn't fix my issue - not sure if that means I can rule frame conflicts out now (I'd sure like to!!!)

Totally stumped - if you have any guidance on this topic I'd be most appreciative. If I figure it out I'll share.

Thanks!

I just re-read this post (still on my elusive "why don't my 2.0 style windows work in iOS 7 like they did in iOS 6 - or could be it be our LMS app that changed right around the same time" mystery...) and realized Ben was paraphrasing what was written in the post. I am seeing iPad supporting iframes all over the place except when used in conjunction with Lectora 2.0 Windows and Captivate CS6 / 7 HTML5 output. This might be an unsolvable mystery but I like those sometimes

I am still trying to find a solution for this problem. We publish our courses via HTML in Lectora 11.

For this one course, we remediate every missed question. So if the student gets the question wrong, we have set a pop up window and goes to a specific page.

The problem is the course is being displayed in a IFRAME, in internet explorer. Which puts a red X at the top right of the screen, like most browsers do. When the POP UP window comes up, if i use the lightbox option, there is a little grey bar at the top of the POP UP with a really small x. If i dont check the lightbox option then i get a red X at the top right of the pop up, which students are clicking the Red X on the pop up and they also click on the x on the main course.

How can i make this easier?

Thanks for any ideas.
