null field content

I posted this before in the middle of something else and didn't see any responses so I will try again here....If I create a text form field and the user keeps it blank what gets sent to my Access DB backend is null. So far so good. However, if they start typing something but then change their mind and delete it before submitting, what gets transmitted to the Access field is:"~~~null~~~" (without the quotes). Is this a testmgr issue or an Access issue? I can code around this problem but I thought this was a big strange.
