I'm looking at a fairly huge project with tight timelines (of course). We need to develop in both English and French.
Generally speaking, we leave about 1/3 extra space in the English build so we will have room once it is translated into French.
I'm curious about how easy the process is, converting an English build to a French one.
I'm envisioning building in 3 layers. One is a background layer, with no text, and elements common to all screens in both languages.
The second layer contains elements common to all screens, but with textual elements (course title, etc...)
The third layer is where content lives, and will obviously have the most changes in the build.
Is this feasible? Are there other best practices I should be aware of? Our goal is to streamline the process as much as possible in order to gain economies of scale; minimize the number of page types, etc...
As an aside, the client is responsible for all translation.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
