Mass Property Change
May 25, 2012 12:00 AM
I have a title that has over 700 pages (its a simulator for training new hires). And I just now discovered that I need to render all my text boxes as images because they are not appearing correctly when viewed on the thin clients that are going to be used by the new starts. I have at least 5 text boxes per slide, so this is over 3.5-4K text boxes that I need to edit the properties on. It will take me days to do this, especially when you consider how little time i get everyday to work on this project. Is there any way to do a mass change for this? I used to use Captivate and it had an option to copy properties to every object that is the same type, and I'm really hoping there is a similar shortcut in Lectora that I just haven't seen yet.....hopefully.....
Any ideas anybody has would be great. Thanks.

Generally it is a LOT safer to do layout directly in Lectora. Turn on your guides. They are under the view menu or in Preferences. Set them to about where you want and then when you drag things they line up easily.
This just saved days of my life I otherwise would never get back changing x / y coordinates on textboxes. Yes, ideally I suppose I could do this with layouts, but kind of hard to get predictable results with that when starting from files that never used them... (at least I couldn't get it to work for the past few years I've messed with this).
I had NO idea you could open an .awt in Dreamweaver. Thank you thank you thank you so much for this info!!!!
Hi Ben,
Thanks for your response!
Fortunately I don't have too many projects where I'll need to do those types of mass changes ... I did find that editing the awt xml wasn't so great for other things. I was having to go in and put A. , B. , C. etc. in front of all my answer choices and thought it might be a tad easier to do it in the xml, but that didn't work so well for that for some reason.
I have a dream I will update my template so it's using Page Layouts, I think I can shift select or ctrl select multiple pages and update them that way. If the coords have a similar feature that will be great (i.e. - ctrl select textboxes on multiple pages?) - I'm trying it Monday!
