Lectora Inspire/Publisher v12.1.2 Bug - Crashing when publishing
August 18, 2015 12:00 AM
We have identified a bug in Lectora Inspire/Publisher v12.1.2 that may affect some of our customers.
If Lectora crashes when you publish to SCORM please check your title resources:
- Open the Resource Manager from the Tools Ribbon and look for an image used twice in your title:
- Once spot where it is used as a regular image on the page,
- and another instance where it's not used as an image but as a custom radio button or another object with the "OnChange" action.
- Find the second instance of the image and click "Create Unique Resource".
- That will prevent Lectora from crashing when you publish.

We will have a fix out for this bug very soon. Please reply here or contact support (support@trivantis.com) with any questions. We will update this post when the fix has been released.

Hello, I have already created a support ticket about this issue, and have just uploaded the zip file to that support ticket.

Hi Jacki,
Can you use the "Submit a support ticket" button to the right-side of the post and send us a copy of your course? If it's caused by something else we need to document it ASAP. Thanks!
I have tried this, but unfortunately, it doesn't work, it still crashes at the same point in publishing - Creating documents/......./imsmanifest.xml.
My titles don't have the example as described above, so something else must also be causing this crashing problem.

Hi Jacki,
I tracked down your case and it looks like Ed got you up and running. He was able to fix it with the work-around steps above. The next patch will be out by the end of the month.
Hi - I, too, am having difficulty publishing my title. Here is the #Case 123205 - "SCORM-aborts in the middle. I tried working through the fix, but it didn't work. As another user indicated, can you please look at my Title.
Thank you.
I am attaching the ZIP I created.
Hi Dmascott,
It looks like there is a .png file named "19165_Up_BTN.png" that is being used as an image object and as well as the target of a change contents action.
The work around to avoid the crash would be to make a copy of "19165_Up_BTN.png" and use the copy as the target to all the change contents action that use that resource. The easiest way to find all the actions that use that resource is to go to the tools tab and click on the resource manager. Expand the "Images" node and search for "19165_Up_BTN.png". You will see all the objects in the title that use that specific resource in the "Resource Used" control.
Yes was very frustrating and it didn't seem to find this post when searching for some answers about the problem on google. I uninstalled Lectora and reinstalled saying no to the upgrade, published my courses to SCORM without any problems. A fix at least in the meantime until they get it working.
Hi @aldgedeb, did the work-around described in the original post and by Eric not work for you? We'd be happy to take a look at your course to troubleshoot.
Well searching the web I didn't see this post, so after two days of troublesooting I took the initiative to uninstall as the only thing I could remember doing was updating the version number. All good, it's publishing without any problems now.
We're hoping to release the patch today. I'll update this thread when I get confirmation.
The Lectora v12.1.3 service packs for Inspire and Publisher are now available. Please run the Auto Update in Lectora or download the patch files here: http://trivantis.com/service-pack-downloads/.
