Well said above. Big differences between them. Captivate can create Engaging, Interactive Training Materials for mostly software training that can be placed in Lectora template and publish to LMS. Lectora is AICC/SCORM compliance and it is widely use for design and development for large scales. Lectora has lots of good tools to help multiple designers to work on the same training design. I would recommend attending Lectora training because that is the best way to gain all you need to create trainings.
