Deb - There are huge differences between the two. Captivate is simulation software. It is really designed to simulate/demonstration keystrokes in an application (like Microsoft Word). You can also build whole e-Learning pieces in Captivate, but I don't reccomend it.I use Captivate to create simulations and some branching pieces. I then publish the Captivates as a *.swf and then put them into Lectora.Lectora is much more efficient at publishing to a LMS than Captivate. To me, Lectora is a blank canvas where I put all of my external animations and interactions. Lectora publishes so efficiently to the two LMSs that I have used, that it makes it easy work.
