When publishing, you can try checking the "Convert accented characters in page names to ASCII". We have many translated courses that require us to use translated text in page names, if nothing else on the opening screen. We have had good luck with that. Prior to 2008, it was an option that only appeared if you had accented characters, but sometimes did not recognize translated text as "accented characters." 2008 and beyond seems to allow that to be checked at any time.
