i-pad and web video

Hi all,

I am currently building a course using Lectora vX.6, and I have to include video content. The user wants the video to be seen when running on IE7 onwards, and also on i-pad. As I am new to using video content with Lectora I do not know if this is possible? When I insert a video it creates a Flash based player meaning that it will run on IE7 but obviously not on the i-pad, is there a solution you could suggest to enable the user to view the video in all formats?

Thanks for your help in advance,

Jon

The JWPlayer Lectora is using will check if Flash is supported and if not will use an html version of the player instead of the player.swf. You should just avoid using FLV files.

Is it an option to host the video on youtube? If so, you could just stream the video into the course via youtube and it should run on IE and iOS without trouble.

Tim, do you have any recommendations for what file format to use for crossplatform video since .flv is not an option?

I tried using mp4 (h.264) and got some new and interesting challenges:

1. My "view in full screen" button is gone from the control panel

2. I cannot change skin on the player

3. The video will load on the iPhone, but on the iPad I only get audio.

Any help much appreciated.

Katrine,

Did you ever figure out a solution. I too have a mp4 (h.264) video that will play on the iPhone, but only play the audio on an iPad.

Thanks!

Have you tried using the "convert to mp4" option when publishing? It might just be that you have mp4 settings not compatible with the iPad. Letting Lectora convert it may make it compatible. Just keep the compression low.

Edit: I tried publishing an MP4 in Lectora without converting and it works fine for me. I published my video in Camtasia. What program did you use for your video?
