Not sure exactly what you are seeing but I have used import successfully. I do not code colors in the background. Images come over fine. What exactly does it do wrong? Please give an example.
the Import in Lectora is NOT like Articulate. It imports the stuff and you should then rearrange and resize most everything. You can minimize the effort by doing several pilot runs. I typically import to 1024x785 and then it does not rescale anything.
