HTML and Return to Finish Course Later

Hi All.

We have a client who has requested an HTML course to be played over their intranet. Most likely, users will take the course from a computer and intranet site that do not require an individual to log-in with username and password. Also, the site will have multiple users accessing the same computer.

Here are the requests of the client:

1. First, they would like five tests within a module with a printout/certificate saying all five tests were passed.

2. They would like users to have the ability to save the session and return to finish the course later.

I think we can handle the first task - though we are very open to suggestions. My question is regarding the second task. What is the best way to accomplish this outside of an LMS? Does anyone have experience doing this in HTML with multiple users on the same computer?
