How do you make a background's opacity 50%?

Your background opacity? can you be clearer? I would just import the background into Photoshop and fade it out.
As for the close popup, you mean when they click on a button to launch the popup, you want to fade the course out? You can do this by using web2.0 popups in Lectora (it fades with a black opacity).
