Help! Variables No Longer Retaining Between Sessions

Course variables (progress tracking, field entries) are no longer retaining their value between sessions in the offline format EXE. This is happening in courses we've had on the market for over a year that have been tested and were functional before.

I understand EXE is on its way out, but we have clients that cannot/do not have internet access on training computers and need an offline option.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do (added programming language, etc) to fix it?
