Graphic Quality vs. Format vs. File Size

I'm a new Lectora user, and I'm struggling with trying to keep graphic quality high, and file size low.The project upon which I'm working consists of using many tables and images residing in PowerPoint files (and because they're embedded, they're of unknown pedigree). I've experimented with copy and paste, and with "save as picture" out of Powerpoint, then dropping the saved image into Lectora. The Lectora User's Guide suggests JPEG for photos, and GIF for other images, with a suggested file size of less than 50kb. The results have been mixed. Some images just look like crap in one format, but look fine as a bitmap (with a big file size). So the questions is, how high in file size can you go without chocking the delivery of the final product? How important is it to try and keep the file size under 50 kb?Any suggestions or guidelines from more experienced Lectora users are appreciated!Best Regards,DaveEdited By: Dave0258 on 2007-10-6 16:43:52
