Getting SS data other than predefined

Currently my courses can get the name and student id from the LMS. I believe the work state is also in the LMS data. My question is how would I set the course up to call that information from the course? I am asking this question because I am looking for a way a course can recognize which state a person works and thus deliver state/regional specific information. Thank you,~Charles
