Error when opening HTML file with Firefox
April 14, 2022 12:00 AM
Hello everyone, I am facing a problem related to opening HTML files with Firefox.
When I open the course in Firefox, the starting page reloading continuously and I can't click on anything on the page.
But when I open in Chrome or Edge, the course shows up as it should.
My course is published using Lectora 18 and I also tried publishing with Lectora 21 but still facing the same problem. I'm not sure if the problem is with my computer or the Firefox browser.
I have attached the HTML file and also the Lectora source file for everyone to check. I hope everyone can publish my lecture and check if the lecture is showing properly on your Firefox.
And 1 more thing I noticed is that since Firefox 70 onwards this error appears. And when I open it with Firefox 67, the course still displays normally.
Looking forward to everyone's help. Thank you very much

This is difficult for me to test. This corporate box can't run Firefox (or unrar), and my personal box that has FF doesn't have Lectora.
Do you mean HTML on a server, or are you trying to load it from your local storage? Does it work in FF on, say, ReviewLink or SCORM Cloud?

i am trying open file in my local computer. I have uploaded the html file to the website and it works fine. The problem occurs only when I open the file that is saved locally on my computer. I updated 2 zip files, hope you can extract the file and check it for me on your computer. Thank you very much
Thanks for your response CarlJFink, when I design the course, I also often press F9 to preview in browser window. But when it is published, the course is sent to the staff and they open the course locally on their computer. Maybe in the near future I will try to upload the course to a website. I was just wondering if this happens when I publish the course on my computer or is it because Firefox doesn't support opening HTML files locally
Generally, ELB doesn't recommend trying to read HTML courses locally, except by using the Preview option of Publish to HTML. I don't work for ELB, but I also don't recommend it.
Using Preview actually starts a minimal web server on your computer which then serves the course. It's a much better simulation than static HTML with no server, and also Firefox won't argue about it. What is probably happening is Firefox's very secure default settings refusing to run local HTML with the same privileges as something sent by a server.
I wonder if your other browsers are very old versions? All modern browsers restrict local HTML files.
It sounds as if you have a perfect use case for ReviewLink, which is designed to let others review a course that you have created.
